Introducing License Management: All Your Lumous Licenses in One Place
Need to find a license key, update your payment method, or move Lumous to a new computer? The new Manage Licenses page brings those tasks together. You can now view and manage all the Lumous licenses connected to your email address in one place, including licenses from separate purchases.
Two ways to access your licenses: use Manage License in the app, or visit Manage Licenses on the website. Both send a secure link to your email and give you access to the same dashboard.
One Place for Every License Connected to Your Email
Sign in once to see every license associated with your email, even if you purchased them separately. Starting from the app or entering a single license key still gives you access to all licenses connected to that email.
Licenses purchased under different email addresses remain separate. To manage those, sign out and request a link for the other email address or one of its license keys.
Access Your Licenses from the App
The Manage License shortcut button has been available since Lumous v4. If you don't see it, make sure you're running v4 or later. If you're on an older version, download the latest release from the Downloads page and follow our update guide.
- In Reminders, find License & Support and click Manage License. Choose Open when prompted.
- The app automatically authenticates the request and sends a secure link to the email address connected to your license.
- Open the email titled Your secure Lumous license-management link and click Manage my Lumous license to reach your dashboard.
Access Your Licenses from the Website
You can also manage your licenses in a browser without opening Reminders, whether you're on the go or using another computer.
- Open Manage Licenses, or use the Manage Licenses link in the website footer.
- Enter the email address used at checkout or one of your Lumous license keys.
- Click Email me a secure link and check the inbox connected to that license.
- Open the link in the email to view your licenses.
If you enter a license key, the link goes to the email address associated with it. You'll need access to that inbox to continue.
What You'll See in Your Dashboard
Your dashboard separates Current licenses from Inactive or previous licenses, so you can find the licenses you're using while keeping your past purchases in view.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| License key | Your full key, with a Copy button for activation. |
| Plan | Your license's plan, such as Monthly or Yearly. |
| Access | The license's current access status. |
| Device | Linked when a device is connected, or Ready to activate when no device is linked. |
| Last seen | The most recent recorded contact from the linked device, when available. |
| Lifetime device moves | How many moves that license has used and how many remain. |
Use Refresh to check the latest state after activating a device or making a billing change. When you're finished, use Sign out to close your management session.
Manage Your Billing
Click Manage Billing beside the relevant license or purchase to open the Stripe billing portal. From there, you can change your plan, update your payment method or billing information, or cancel your subscription.
If a license doesn't have a Manage Billing button, online billing isn't available for that license. Contact support and we'll help you with it.
Move Your License to Another Device
Changing computers? You can disconnect an eligible license from its current device and activate the same key on another one. You can also move back to a device you've used previously.
Each license includes three lifetime device moves. The allowance belongs to that license and does not reset each month or year. After all three moves are used, contact support. Additional device changes are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Step 1: Fully Quit Reminders on the Current Device
Before confirming a move, make sure Reminders has fully quit on the computer currently using the license. Closing the window can leave the app running in the background. You can use Ctrl + Shift + 0 to close the application completely.
Step 2: Confirm the Device Move
In your browser, find the correct license and click Move to Another Device. Review the confirmation, including the number of moves remaining. Select the checkbox acknowledging that this uses one lifetime move, then click Confirm Device Move.
Once the move succeeds, the current device is disconnected and the license shows Ready to activate.
Keep Reminders closed on your previous device until you've activated the license on your new one. If you reopen Reminders on the previous device after moving the license but before activating it elsewhere, it will link the license back to that device.
Step 3: Activate on Your Chosen Device
Click Copy beside the license key. Install Reminders on your chosen computer using the Downloads page, open it, paste the key into the activation screen, and click Activate. Our macOS setup guide and Windows setup guide cover the installation steps.
A license that is already Ready to activate doesn't need a device move first. If its access is active, you can activate it directly. Moving a license changes which computer can use it; each license remains linked to one device at a time.
A Few Things to Know
- Links are single-use and expire. If your link or session has expired, request a new email link.
- Didn't receive the email? Check spam or junk, confirm your email or license key, and allow time for delivery before trying again.
- No device move button? Check that the license is active, linked to a device, and has moves remaining. A license that's already ready to activate doesn't need a move.
